The breed was developed by the Lacy brothers, Young Ewin “Ewin,” Francis Marion “Frank,” John Hiram “Harry” and George Lacy, for use on their ranch, and then the Lacy Lans Ranch (as of 2022, a portion of the original farm is still owned by the Lacy family but is now known as the Shifflett Ranch).
